July calendar

Our house went on the market today so it is as clean as it is ever going to get. For the first time in it feels like weeks, I was able to enjoy scrapbooking instead of worrying that I should have been doing something else. Since July is fast approaching and I still hadn't made a calendar page, I decided today would be perfect. Besides, it is hotter than Hades outside and the basement is nice and cool.

Paper Girls Challenge Blog #10

The inspiration for challenge #10 from The Paper Girls Challenge blog was a picture found on Pinterest. I loved this challenge b/c again it had me reaching for the more vibrant papers that I usually shy away from. The picture is one of me in Blarney Castle from our honeymoon in Ireland.

  • American Crafts City Park collection paper, Delights, and Thickers Dolce & Jewelry Box
  • WRMK Sweetheart Inker

Turquoise #8

This weeks MWM from Scrapbooksteals.com had me doing a layout I've wanted to do for some time. My Grandma is super cool. She is in her early 90s and still is sharp as a tack and on the go. She has 6 children, 16 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren and we all think she is amazing. One scrapbook layout doesn't begin to cover her spectacular life, but it is a start.

Turquoise #7

This past weeks Mid-Week Mojo from Scrapbooksteals.com was a fairly easy layout for me. It just sort of came together especially since I've lately collected a lot of orange and blue paper. I've lately been experimenting with dry brushing. So far I haven't gotten the results that I am hoping for but practice makes perfect right? Anyway, that explains the weird grey hue around the papers edges. The photo used is my favorite ever of me and my sister Mary. It was taken back in the summer of 2002 before my Senior year of college.

Products used in this layout:
  • Authentique Gathering Icons, paper, stickers, and notables
  • Fancy Pants Summer's End paper, buttons
  • Crate Paper Restorations die cuts

We have some of the best neighbors and they have been our surrogate families over the past 5 years. We always try to let them know that we appreciate them and Katie's wedding is no exception. The card I made was inspired by Aimee Johnson's card in the July 2011 issue of Cards magazine.

For Scrapbooksteals.com mid-week mojo we had a two pager! I was hoping for a two pager soon b/c I wanted to scrap these pictures I had taken last month of Archie playing with his matchbox cars/hot wheels. I struggled a bit with this one. At the end I felt like it was missing something but I didn't want to start adding embellishments and going overboard. This is not my favorite page, but I think the sketch was perfect for these photos. Here is my interpretation of the sketch for Turquoise #6.

In this layout I used the following:
  • Echo Park This & That Charming layered chipboard and paper

I got to rock out another scrapbook page today thanks to me spilling coffee in my lap this morning. I was on vacation for Turquoise #4, but I will get that done before this series is up. For ScrapbookSteals.com Turquoise #5 layout I used photos taken last week on our trip. We always love going to Ann Arbor when we are Michigan and it is even more fun now that we have kids. They had so much fun running around and playing in the Diag. At one point, my oldest started crying because we wouldn't let him go into the Graduate Library. Love that boy! I'm back with a twofer

Vacation was great but I did miss scrapbooking. Here I am back with a layout for two challenges. I like doing one layout per challenge but these two just worked together so well for me that i ran with it.

The June challenge from the My Mind's Eye blog is all about fussy cutting. There has been a paper from the Abbey Road collection that I have wanted to use for a long time but never knew where to start. I immediately knew what fussy cutting I wanted to do and this paper was perfect.

The Paper Girl's Challenge Blog challenge #8 was about using chipboard. I really don't have a lot of chipboard but I do have a bunch from the Abbey Road collection that again I haven't known how to use it in a layout.

For this Layout I used the following products:

  • MME Abbey Road Stomp "Best Buddies" frame
  • MME Abbey Road Stomp Chipboard elements
  • MME Abbey Road Stomp "Big Attitude" paper
  • MME Abbey Road Stomp "Rock On" paper
  • MME Abbey Road Stomp "Watch Out" large accessories
  • MME Abbey Road Round & Round "Round & Round" paper
  • MME So Sophie Charming "Simple Things" sticker alphabet
  • MME So Sophie "Living Proof" Spontaneous Floral paper
